The need for sustainable energy has incentivized the use of alternative fuels such as light alcohols. In this work, reduced chemistry mechanisms prediction fires (pool fire, tank and flash fire) two primary alcohols—methanol ethanol—were developed, aiming to integrate detailed kinetic model into computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. accommodates either pure reactants products or other intermediates, including soot precursors (C2H2, C2H4, C3H3), which were identified via sensitivity reaction path analyses. developed mechanism was adopted predict burning behavior in a 3D domain estimation product distribution. agreement between experimental data from literature estimations resulting analysis performed work demonstrates successful application method integration CFD models, opening an accurate evaluation safety scenarios allowing proper design storage transportation systems involving
